Stress Management/Health and Wellness in the Workplace
Scientific Research tells us that high performance, wellbeing, and commitment in the workplace are all connected. Sources of workplace stress manifest themselves in many different outcomes, ranging from high levels of sickness absence through to reduced morale and decreased levels of performance/productivity. In seminars ranging from one to five days, Joanne can help your business evaluate its wellness on three levels: primary, secondary and tertiary. Primary interventions address stressors by changing the physical or socio-political environment to match employees needs and provides them with more control over their work environment. Secondary interventions help individuals to manage stress on a personal level, and tertiary interventions are those put in place to rehabilitate employees who have been unable to cope.
Joanne’s intensive, comprehensive seminars can be designed for either managers or employees, and includes team building activities, stress audits, personal assessments and planning. She addresses issues such as organization and time management, conflict resolution, comfort zones, forward thinking – all in a plan to reduce personal and workplace stress and put you on a pathway to success.
Course outlines are available on request and can be designed to suit your businesses’ unique needs.
Stress Management/Health and Wellness for Teachers
As teachers we work in an increasingly stressful environment. We are all familiar with the demonstration of the adult using the oxygen mask first before administering it to the child in the event of an airplane crisis. This same analogy holds true in teaching. If we do not take the time to help and care for ourselves, it will ultimately be the students who pay the price. But conversely, if we do care for our own well being the students will reap the benefits of our wellness. Our own wellness is key in being able to be effective teachers; and acknowledging, understanding and dealing with our stress is essential. In this seminar Joanne identifies four key factors in teacher stress: time restraints, teacher isolation, change and inclusive classrooms. She then helps participants gain an understanding of the effects of stress in their lives, and gives practical strategies for effectively managing their stress.Behavior Disorders in the Regular Classroom
The demands on today’s teacher have increased significantly due to the inclusion of students with disruptive behavior disorders. This presentation provides important information about conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Five key elements are then outlined that, when effectively incorporated into the classroom, can help students with behavior disorders succeed while at the same time allowing teachers to maintain a safe and productive learning environment for all other students.Through personal experiences and stories taken from years of teaching, and countless hours of research, Joanne will rekindle participant’s passion for teaching, and make them keenly aware of the important role they play in at-risk student’s lives.
